Programs
Attorney Cost Assistance
(under development)
The
Attorney Cost Assistance program will seek and obtain grants
to subsidize attorney costs in custody cases. In addition Fathers, Inc.
will identify a network of attorneys that will provide pro bono or reduced
fee services (i.e. attorney retainer, consultation, and/or representation
fees). Subsidy will be based on a sliding fee scale based on income. The
goal of the program will be to increase the effective representation of
fathers in custody cases. Our expectation is that in providing this
service, another barrier to paternal parental involvement will be removed.
Mentorship and Support Group
Fathers, Inc. will
establish a network of area fathers to provide mentoring to young
fathers. We will also offer group mentorship, training, and support
groups utilizing area fathers.
Fatherhood Training Classes, Seminars and Summits
Fathers, Inc will
sponsor
training for individuals and organizations on topics of fatherhood. The
organization will also host seminars and summits to provide forums for
networking and resource identification. These training classes will be in
support of other Fathers Inc. programs, including mentorship and
mediation.
Father/Mother custody and support mediation
(under development)
Fathers, Inc. will
create collaborations with Family Court, Social Services, and other
organizations to provide mediation between fathers and mothers prior to
entering the family court system.
Annual Father of the Year Award and Banquet
(under development)
Fathers, Inc. will
honor one father in the Capital Region by recognizing his commitment to
family and community. Several other awards will also be given to fathers
who excel in particular areas. The Banquet will serve as a hallmark
fundraiser to encourage support and membership from within the Community.
Quarterly
Newsletter
(under development)
A quarterly
newsletter
will be distributed to the membership and community at large to highlight
services, accomplishments, and goals of the organization. The Newsletter
will also contain articles and information about fatherhood and parenting. |
